Get your skates on – if you are quick, you could secure a HP TouchPad for £89, although it might mean trawling round a few stores today. The initial offer was confirmed by Dixon's spokesman Mark Webb on Twitter: 'Dixons.co.uk: HP Touchpad SALE, Limited Stock online from later today. £89 for the 16GB and £115 for the 32GB.' 70% off, echoing a similar clearance in the US, where stock literally flew off the shelves. At that price, you can understand why.Sadly, it looks like the online stock has already gone – no surprise there (although it's worth checking if more appears). But the store stock only goes on sale today, so you might yet be able to get one, especially if you head to one of the unfashionable Dixon's, Curry's or PC World stores. By that, we mean the one that aren't in key city centre locations. A call might be in order first though, to save you the petrol or the shoe leather.Obviously the reason for the discount is HP's change of mind regarding both webOS and the TouchPad, both of which are being cut loose by the tech giant. Still, it's not a bad piece of kit to own, especially at the new price. It did get a four-star review off us after all.Bizarrely, the end result of all of this will be to make the HP TouchPad a rather popular and certainly much wider-used device. If HP was shrewd, it could have a change of heart and start supporting this expanded userbase with new apps and developments for the device. Will it happen? Probably not, the clearout is pretty much the final nail in the coffin, although you'll still get plenty of use out of it, support or not.
