LG Optimus Sol leaks online

If the LG optimus Black appealed, you might well find something to love in the upcoming LG Optimus Sol, which has just appeared online.

An unusual name, especially as a name relating to sunshine wouldn't necessarily be in a black case. But it will also be in silver, which is slightly more cheery, so that's something. The phone itself looks to be fairly slim, with a rounded back, presumably because of some kind of ergonomic design. We'll have to get hands-on (if you'll pardon the pun) to check that out. According to Crave, the handset has broken cover in an online video, showing what appears to be a mid-range Android smartphone, specifically one running Android Gingerbread (2.3).

The prototype handset also packs a 1GHz processor, a 3.8-inch AMOLED display and a 5-megapixel camera. Possibly more features too, but that's all that could be gleaned from the promotional materials thus far. The OS will also have LG's own interface over the top, which you probably love or hate. It does tend to divide opinion.

The Optimus Black wasn't exactly well-received at Mobile Choice, so hopefully some of those concerns have been addressed in this new model. If they have - and this comes in at a lower price point - it might be worth a look when it lands pre-Christmas. Check out that video (with German voiceover) if you want to see more.
