Not to be confused with the X10 Mini Pro, the Xperia Mini Pro is the latest entry-level phone in the Xperia series, offering decent value if you want to go down the contract route. The phone was launched back in May, but has only now hit the shelves. Those shelves being the ones in your local Carphone Warehouse, which is selling the handset on a £20 per month contract with Orange. But you'll have to sign for 24 months to get that deal. It's also available via T-Mobile for slightly more from the same retailer.Despite the relatively budget price, this is a very impressive piece of kit. Powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and running Android Gingerbread 2.3 from launch, the phone has a three-inch scratch-resistant, multi-touch glass screen with Reality Display, courtesy of the Mobile Bravia engine, along with a five-megapixel camera with HD video capability, a 2GB microSD card for storage and of course, the optimised slide-out keyboard. That's because the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro is geared towards messaging. As well as the keyboard, there is Type & Send functionality, which eliminates the need to open a dedicated app for each type of message, and Smart Keyboard, a predictive messaging service that works automatically when you slide out that QWERTY. Want one? You know where to go.
