OK, the headline pretty much says it all – you can get an Android tablet for just £99 from Asda. But look beneath the headline and you'll realise that the Arnova isn't the cutting edge device you perhaps crave. It's still an Android tablet though, an eight-inch one to be precise, complete with 4GB of internal memory, built-in Wi-Fi and an SDHC slot for bumping up the storage further (to 32GB specifically). There's also an 800x600 TFT screen and a lithium polymer battery, the latter offfering up to 25 hours worth of music playback apparently.Downside? Well, it only offers a resistive screen and only runs Android 2.1, a long way from the tablet-friendly Android Honeycomb, so not exactly the OS for the job.
But with a price of £99, what do you expect? If you want a foot on the ladder of either Android or tablets and money is tight, it might be worth checking out.
