Forget Angry Birds, the real king of physics-based puzzle solving is Cut the Rope – and it's here for Android smartphones.
If you haven't had a slash on the iPhone/iPad versions, this deceptively simple game is indeed all about cutting ropes very quickly to release a piece of candy into the waiting gob of snack-hungry Om Nom, while attempting to collect a trio of stars on the way down. The slick gameplay is matched by equally slick, high-def graphics over 175 levels that, if the iOS version was anything to go by, will soon be bumped up by expansion packs.
'Demand for Cut the Rope on Android has surged since we first launched on the iOS platform last year,' said Efim Voinov, CTO at ZeptoLab, developer of the game.'We have worked diligently to bring the same level of quality gameplay and fun to Android users that iOS users have been enjoying over the past year.'
The iOS version hit the top-download spot in the App Store, and recently won the Apple Design Award for Best iPhone Developer Showcase. BAFTA also awarded it Best Handheld Game.
The new Android version will be released in several Android app stores over the next week - but for today only, it's free at all-platforms app store GetJar. Hit the link on your mobile browser to get it now.
