Phones 4U confirms HTC ChaCha

We mentioned last week that Carphone Warehouse was doing pre-orders for the HTC ChaCha. However, the retail chain didn't actually give a shelf date for the Facebook phone. Phones 4u has now offered that information, with the handset available from today.

The Carphone Warehouse deals were on the Orange network, with prices from £20 if you want a free phone and were willing to sign up for 24 months. The Phones 4u deal is pretty similar, with £20 getting you the phone over two years with either Orange or Vodafone. The Orange deal certainly looks more generous in terms of allowances, but you might want to check the smallprint before you commit.

The deals are available online now – presumably stock of the handset is in the retailer's high street stores from today too. There's also a pay-as-you-go deal, but you'll be looking at an upfront price of £299.95.

If you missed the official launch, the ChaCha is one of two handsets with deep Facebook integration as well as Android 2.3 for the operating system. In terms of Facebook, the ChaCha has one-touch access to the main functions, easy sharing and photo uploading, a 'context aware' light when there's a chance of a Facebook share, right down to sharing the music you are listening to at that very moment.

There's also a QWERTY keyboard, a five-megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash, a VGA front-facing camera for calls, a 2.6-inch, 480x320 resolution landscape touch-screen, 600MHz processor, 512MB of memory and plenty of storage via microSD memory card.

If that gets your pulse racing, go hunt one down now.
