It's been a long time coming, with the BlackBerry PlayBook launched back in September in the US. But now we have official confirmation of the UK launch date - 16 June is the date for your diary.Amazingly, the rumoured price was actually correct, with the 16GB model available to pre-order at Dixons Retail (Currys and PC World), Carphone Warehouse, Insight UK and Phones 4u for £399 if you want the 16GB model. There's also a 32GB version too, but you'll be looking at around £479 if you want one of those. For that, you get a QNX-based tablet with 1024x600, WSVGA seven-inch capacitive touch-screen, a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, two cameras (three-megapixel front and five-megapixel rear) with HD shooting plus Wi-Fi connectivity, HDMI and USB slots and the ability to run Flash 10.1 and HTML 5. Not a bad piece of kit on the face of it.A delayed launch has no doubt ironed out a few things and allowed for more apps to come to market. Not least Facebook and video chat. But with rumours of an additional model before the year is out and less apps than the competition, it still might be a hard sell against both the iPad and newly-launched Android 3.0 tablets.
