The ViewPad 7 got a fairly average rating when we reviewed it at the back end of last year. ViewSonic will be hoping the incoming ViewPad 7x makes more of a splash. Wonder if this one will be available to try for free too?We don't know, but we do know how it breaks down, thanks to Pocket-lint. For a start, this is the first seven-inch Honeycomb (aka Android 3.0) tablet. Well, until the HTC Flyer gets an upgrade anyway. If that happens before this one hits the shelves, it suddenly becomes a meaningless boast. Then again, it could launch with Android 3.1, taking the whole thing up a notch. In terms of hardware, of course there's a seven-inch screen, but there is also a Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, two cameras for front and back shooting and conferencing, HSPA+ and greater connectivity compared to the last ViewPad. For example, there is HDMI support for sharing media with your TV.The device will launch officially on 31 May at the Computex event in Taipei, so we'll get the full lowdown then, hopefully with a shelf date and a price for UK customers soon after. The last version wasn't great, but this new one certainly has the potential to make its mark. Look out for full details on that launch date.
