Samsung Galaxy S II gets early UK release

Next Friday is S-day, the day that the Samsung Galaxy S II hits the market. Yes, earlier than expected, as long as you get one from Phones 4u.

According to TechRadar, Phones 4u will get a mini exclusive on the dual-core handset, throwing in a free 8GB memory card to sweeten the deal. Speaking about it, Russell Braterman, marketing director at Phones 4u said: 'With its super-slim good looks and the latest Android 2.3 operating system, the Samsung Galaxy S2 is the next step in the evolution of mobile.

'We're really proud to be the first retailer to offer the Samsung Galaxy S2 to our customers. The original Samsung Galaxy S was hugely popular when it launched last year, and we're confident the Galaxy S II will be just as successful as its predecessor.'

The phone is available for 'free' on a £35 per month contract with a choice of networks. Alternatively, you can pay-as-you-go for £499. For that, you get a super-slim Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) smartphone with 4.27-inch 800x480 Super AMOLED Plus display, an eight-megapixel camera, two-megapixel video calling camera and a dual-core 1GHz Samsung chip plus 1GB of RAM. An impressive piece of kit, without doubt – and only days away from being in your hand.
