Asda offers Samsung Galaxy Tab for £299

The original has perhaps been superceded by the recent arrival of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 tablets, but the Samsung Galaxy Tab in its first incarnation still has plenty going for it. Indeed, it got a four star review off us back in November of last year. So when we heard it was now £299, well it's a tempting proposition.

Asda Direct is the place to go for a discounted Galaxy Tab, selling the 7-inch Android 2.2 device for £299, which is over £200 less than its original price and £138 less than Asda's last price. According to the store: 'The Tab is perfect for life on the go, at only 12 millimetres thick, and with a 7-inch touchscreen. The media tablet is small enough to fit in your hand, yet big enough to be packed with incredible entertainment and communication features using the latest Android operating system.'

No contract is required to grab one, but stock is limited. Essentially, once it's gone, it's gone. So if the idea of an Android tablet with a 1GHz processor, 16GB of storage, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, 3-megapixel camera, GPS and of course, access to the Android Market appeals, you might might want to shoot over there now. It's not an iPad 2, but it just might be better than the original iPad.
