They ghosted in with minimal speculation at the recent MWC event, with launch dates being a vague 'summer' at launch. Well, now it seems like we have more concrete launch dates for the new Facebook phones from HTC, the HTC ChaCha and Salsa. It's not exactly set in stone, but online phone retailer Xpansys is now talking future availability for both phones, with shipping dates set for June 17th 2011. Sadly, no price is being offered by the store, but at least you can plan around your current contract. After all, if it's hitting Xpansys, it's likely to be available on contract around the same time. We suspect Facebook addicts are already counting down the days.So you should because, if you love Facebook, it's looking like both are the phones to have. Both are HTC phones with the HTC Sense interface and both integrate Facebook deeply, using the public APIs to create something that's not strictly a Facebook phone (even if it has the branding on), but is very Facebook-friendly.The two Android 2.3 devices are 'context-aware', gently pulsing with light whenever there is an opportunity to share content or updates through Facebook, with one-touch access to update your status, upload a photo, share a Website, post what song you are listening to, 'check in' to a location and more. The HTC ChaCha is the one with the QWERTY keyboard, offering up a 5-megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash, along with a VGA front-facing camera for calls, a 2.6-inch, 480 x 320 resolution landscape touch screen, 600 MHz processor, 512MB of memory and plenty of storage via microSD memory card. The HTC Salsa is a more traditional smartphone, but with the same deep integration with Facebook. Features include a larger 3.4-inch, 480 x 320 resolution touch display, a 5-megapixel camera, VGA forward-facing camera for video calling, a 600 MHz processor, 512MB of memory and again, the option to boost storage via microSD memory card. If either of those appeal, see your favoured operator in June or give Xpansys a shout if you want to go sim-free.
