OK, so we've potentially ruled out the Apple iPhone nano that's been rumoured for years, but now there's some new small-Apple-thing gossip doing the rounds.
Unwired View is reporting on a six-inch iPad that is meant to launch in autumn. According to the website it got it's info from, a reliable source (aren't they always?) is considering a couple different sized iPads for launch, both with a screen size of around six inches, putting the new addition somewhere in between the iPod Touch and original iPad.
However, the iPhone nano rumours were recently quashed on the basis that a smaller iPhone would need accordingly resized apps, which would come at a cost to developers.
On the other hand, a smaller iPad would make sense as it would put Apple's tablet in direct competition with devices such as Samsung Galaxy Tab or HTC's recently announced Android-powered Flyer tab. Both of these clock in at seven inches, making them far more portable, not to mention operable one-handed.
Meanwhile, John Gruber of Daring Fireball blog and respected Apple speculator, has said before he thinks an iPad 3 is likely to come in September, on the heels of the iPad 2 pegged to arrive in summer.
We're gambling on a smaller iPad versus a smaller iPhone, so place your bets and wait and see...
