Microsoft finally has a date for catching up to its rivals in Steve Ballmer's so-called three-horse race, with Windows Phone 7 to get a free update that will include copy/paste
The upgrade will also introduce true multi-tasking. In other words, you'll finally be able to listen to the Zune player and run other apps at the same time, and switch between apps quickly like you can on iPhone and Android.
Outside of these can't-believe-it-didn't-have-it-before features, Twitter will be as deeply integrated as Facebook, with feeds and contacts streamed to the phonebook (or People Hub, to get into the Microsoft lingo). Windows Phone 7 will also boast a new Internet Explorer 9 browser that will support Flash and HTML5 for online video, and the same accelerated graphics as its PC big brother.
Finally, you'll be able to share documents and store them on the Windows Live SkyDrive from your phone.
Copy/paste and increased app performance speed will available in the first two weeks of March, with all other features mentioned above launching in the second half of the year.
