Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc heads to UK

Launched at the CES earlier this month, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is now UK-bound, via the O2 network.

A holding page has appeared online, effectively saying not a lot, except that the network will have the handset in April, should you currently be winding down a contract. Prices? Nothing listed, but we suggest you look at the higher-end Android phones currently on offer, the pricing will probably be around that mark, give or take the odd pound.

For that price, you'll get the latest Xperia handset, which by all accounts is easier to update that earlier generations. So the Android 2.3 OS present now might not be around forever, network permitting. There's also a host of other attention-grabbing features on the slimline smartphone, including an extra wide 4.2-inch multi-touch screen with Reality Display, using the Mobile BRAVIA Engine for 'exceptional visual brilliance' and a crystal clear image which 'enhances the overall entertainment experience'. Sharp as an iPhone is what's being promised in effect. If that screen isn't enough, there's also HDMI-out for big-screen viewing on your HD-ready telly.

Other features of note include an 8.1-megapixel camera with f/2.4 lens, auto focus, face detection, geo tagging, image stabilizer, noise suppression, smile detection and HD video shooting, along with all the usual media features, Wi-Fi, aGPS and access to the Android market for all those apps.

More on the price when we have it or give O2 a shout if you want to reserve one regardless.
