Samsung to launch Galaxy S 2 and Galaxy Tab 2

We first saw details and an image of the Samsung Galaxy S 2 at the start of the month, but now it's effectively been confirmed for imminent launch, alongside the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, for the forthcoming MWC 2.

How do we know? Simple - according to Ubergizmo, an announcement schedule for the event has been unearthed for February 13th 2011, which promises a keynote from president JK Shin and two product presentations. Yes, you guessed it, the Galaxy S 2 smartphone and the Galaxy Tab 2.

The Galaxy S 2 is said to showcase both an on-board NFC chip and Android 2.3 for the operating system, throwing in a dual-core processor, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED 2 display at 1280 x 720 resolution and 340 dpi, HD video recording capabilities, 1GB RAM and an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash. Samsung's TouchWiz 3.0 user interface will also be present.

The Tab 2 has been rumoured, but so far, has been an unknown quantity. It's likely to be going up against the iPad 2 (scheduled for launch a few days earlier we believe) and is said to a offer up a 7-inch, 2048×1200, Super-AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass, Android 2.3 OS (which will upgrade to 3.0 Honeycomb), an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 8-megapixel back camera with 1080p video and dual LED flash and a 3-megapixel front camera.

All will be revealed in just 16 days, we'll be there for the big reveal of course.
