BlackBerry Storm 3 appears online

Apologies for the slightly grainy image, this isn't an official press shot of the forthcoming BlackBerry Storm 3. But we do have the details of the latest RIM touchscreen, thanks to a leak via BGR.

Yes, yet another new BlackBerry, the fourth in a matter of days. But that doesn't mean a glut of new BlackBerry devices on the market. Indeed, this particular device isn't due to be seen on the shelves until September. Worth the wait?

Well, if you happen to be a fan of the Storm range, it probably is. For a start, it will feature the highest resolution display ever to ship on a BlackBerry smartphone, specifically a 800 x 480-pixel display, with an optical trackpad underneath for traditionalists who don't want to scroll via the screen. Which begs the question, why buy a touchscreen BlackBerry?

Other key features include a 1.2GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera with 720p video recording, 8GB eMMC (storage for apps and data), 512MB of RAM, a microSD slot, a magnetometer, proximity sensor, accelerometer, Bluetooth 2.1, HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, 3G Mobile hotspot technology and of course, the BlackBerry OS 6.1 operating system.

As we said, September is the date for this, so don't expect the official launch for some time. Although we do hope a few better images break cover before the big reveal.
