A taste of things to come maybe? It actually offers you more interactivity. But more significantly, you can make payments and transfer cash between accounts. You'll obviously need to have enabled internet banking with First Direct to use it and for some of the more advanced features, you will need to go online with a computer to authorise that kind of thing. But it is a step forward for mobile banking, allowing you to carry out your business 24/7 from pretty much anywhere in the world. Just make sure those passwords are ultra-secure.The First Direct app is available in iTunes now for free. The bank says it plans to make its app available on other smartphone platforms during 2011. Expect other banks to do something similar with their apps too over the next 12 months.
