Samsung Galaxy S2 breaks cover

Not to be confused with the Google Nexus S or the Samsung Galaxy S, the Samsung Galaxy S2 is a new phone, albeit a sequel of sorts to both of those phones.

Details are still scarce, but we do have the basics and a mock-up of what looks to be a slim and stylish touchscreen, with the real thing likely to appear (like many other new phones) at the forthcoming Mobile World Congress in February. But before that comes along, let's have a sneak peek.

According to TechRadar, the phone isn't a million miles away from the recent Samsung-made Google Nexus S, with both an on-board NFC chip and Android 2.3 for the operating system. But there is a dual-core processor to boost performance considerably, plus a larger screen, believed to be a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED number. All of that being topped off with the Samsung TouchWiz 3.0 user interface.

As we said, a launch looks likely for the February phone expo, so look out for that, with a shelf date likely for spring 2011.
