Most of us go to the local phone shop for a new mobile phone, but according to Gizmodo, someone went out and bought this as-yet-unannounced Motorola Olympus smartphone at a local market. We'd love to know which one.Why there was a brand new Motorola flagship phone on a market stall, we really don't know, but we're glad he or she did find it. It means we now know that the Olympus (model number MB860) is running Android 2.2 currently, and has an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, just like the LG Star that we featured yesterday. There's also an HDMI port, microUSB slot, front-facing camera and a screen that's estimated to be around four inches in size, along with a front-facing camera. It's obviously a test unit, with the buyer telling Gizmodo he was able to access a developer menu and to bypass any activation for general use. So maybe things will change before launch. Not much though, we suspect.January 2011 is the shelf date in the US, no word on the UK yet. On previous form, expect two or three months to pass before we see it - and possibly only sim-free.
