Acer unveils super-sized Android smartphone

Acer has shown off a new, super-sized smartphone. But as yet, hasn't give the handset a name.

The company is pitching is as something of a halfway house between a tablet and a phone, but to be honest, this Android device looks more like the latter than the former with that 4.8-inch screen. Which version of Android you ask? The company didn't drop that one either, but it did at least it gave us some idea on the specification.

According to TechRadar, there's a 1024 x 480 resolution display as well as a 21:9 ratio display, along with an 8-megapixel camera with single LED flash, a 2-megapixel front camera for video calling. DLNA technology for media streaming, HDMI connectivity and a 6-axis gyroscope to add to gaming fun.

It looks impressive, if a little heavy on your pocket - in weight that is, we don't have a price as yet. We don't have a release date either. With a number of blanks still to be filled in, we suspect this isn't going to be sitting on a shelf before 2011.
