Ok, rumours aplenty for the arrival of iOS 4.2. Apple's update of its mobile operating system, with one rumour claiming it could land today.According to 9 to 5 Mac, German blog Inside-Handy got word from Deutsche Telekom representatives that the date is indeed this very day. No sign as yet, but the US hasn't yet woken up, so no surprise. When it does, it could be a very different story. However, the same website also cites German blog iFun as announcing the update as November 12th. The reason? Well, they have apparently discovered that Apple will be pushing out some carrier updates on November 12th, so by logic, are presuming the iOS 4.2 will land too. Bottom line? If it doesn't land today, the 12th is very likely. Either way, it's before the weekend. We have covered the expected updates in the past, but according to TiPb, the update will boost performance of iPhone 3G handsets too. The site claims it has tested the iOS 4.2 gold master on an iPhone 3G and found that performance was much improved, not least when it comes to speed. So if you've been holding onto an older phone, you could well have something to celebrate by the weekend.
