Sadly, it wasn't the launched of the Facebook phone that everyone was hoping for, but Facebook did introduce two new versions of its mobile platform last night, for the iPhone and Android handsets respectively.According to Pocket Lint, the Facebook iPhone 3.3.1 app and the Facebook for Android 1.4 apps have both gone live, with iPhone users being offered Groups, an updated Places with easier tagging, as well as a prominent 'check in' button to encourage you to just that more often. There's also a rather nifty new 'deals' feature, with businesses offering up special prices and offers based on your location. Sadly, this last feature is only live in the US right now. But give it time. It's nailed-on for the UK eventually.Android users haven't been forgotten, with a first launch of Places and Groups and a refresh to the notifications application. Both apps also allow you to add photos when you check in, with Places updated to include a starred friends list, making it even 'faster and easier to tag friends with whom you frequently check-in'. If you like the sound of that, check in with your respective app store.
