We presumed we had seen the last of the Palm Pre for some time. After all, HP is planning its own WebOS phones next year, so why bother with another Pre? Seems we were wrong though, with French network SFR accidentally outing the Palm Pre 2 online. In truth, it's more of a Palm Pre 1.1 than an all-new model - enhancements are fairly minimal. According to Pre Central, the new Pre has a new 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, the same design (albeit with a 'flatter' screen and 'more refined' look), some minor tweaks to ports and an upgrade to WebOS.With that operating system, the translation from the French site claims it now has a faster boot time and 'push' features, especially for Facebook - messages, events, wall postings and chat as updates happen.Aside from that, nothing else is known, not the least the price and date on which the Palm Pre 2 will actually land. With those HP WebOS phones on the horizon, it wil be interesting to see if the Palm Pre 2 gets above modest sales. Mind you, if you like the device and want an upgrade, what have you got to lose?
