goes live

Apple's MobileMe service now has a rival with the launch of, which we flagged up a few weeks back.

According to Pocket Lint, the site is now open for registration from HTC users, with plenty of useful features.

That includes a phone finding function, allowing you to make your phone ring loudly if lost or pinpoint it on a map. You can also lock your phone and forward calls to an alternative number, send a retrieval message to your phone or as a last resort, erase its contents.

You can also store all your SMS messages, as well as sending and receiving messages via your desktop. A contact manager will back up and sync your address book, while Navigation and Footprints uses your HTC phone's GPS functionality to pinpoint saved locations on Google Maps.

Downside? You'll need a HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z handset to use it. Which rules out all but those with review handsets right now. It will be a very different story by the time October is out though.
