T-Mobile offers Nokia 5230 as music phone

Not exactly a new phone, we reviewed it back in March, but the Nokia 5230 has been given a new lease of life as a pay-as-you-go music phone.

Yes, it's extras galore - and all for a £99 pay-as-you-go price. For that, you get to choose when you pay for a call obviously, but according to Pocket Lint, you also get six months of free internet access, a hefty free text allowance and a year's free access to Nokia's Ovi Music Unlimited Store, the artist formerly known as Comes With Music, that is.

There are a couple of things worth knowing up front though. You have to top up for the first time to get the free net access and when the six months has passed, you will need to pay another £20 if you want a further six months. If you want the free texts, you'll need to top up £10 each month.

According to Nicola Shenton, head of handset and device marketing at T-Mobile: 'The incredibly popular Nokia 5230 is the perfect all-rounder, offering customers a huge range of exclusive benefits all for under £100. With internet access and music downloads free from the moment you register the phone, the Nokia 5230 Ovi Music Unlimited on T-Mobile makes the perfect fuss-free Christmas gift'.
