Vodafone introduces 945 and 553 handsets

Once upon a time, the arrival of a new Android handset was big news, often involving 'spy' pictures in the run-up and a big press conference on the day of launch. But these days, unless it's a premium model, handsets just like the Vodafone 945 just appear with little fanfare.

It's at the budget end of the market, likely to appear in time for the Christmas shopping rush. According to TechRadar, the 945 has a 3.2-inch, 480 x 272 capacitive touchscreen, as well as a 5-megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi and that staple of the budget phone, an FM radio. There's also access to Android Market and Vodafone Music, 300MB of on-board memory and a card slot to bump it up to 32GB.

The Vodafone 553 sadly doesn't pack Android, but it does have a QWERTY keyboard, plus a 2.8-inch rotating touchscreen, Opera Mini 5 pre-installed, a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, the FM radio and a MicroSD card slot with support for up to 8GB of additional storage space.

No news on a price, but they're unlikely to break the bank.
