Apple iOS 4.1 now available to download

Not exactly a huge step up for Apple's iPhone, but the Apple iOS 4.1 upgrade does offer more - and without any financial outlay.

It's now gone live for download to your phone, with the headline act being the addition of Game Center, which means you'll be able to do some social gaming - or compete against others if you like. Only one game was available at launch (Pac-Man), but Apple has bumped up the numbers in the last few hours. So fill your boots (or hard drive).

Outside of that, you'll also get access to iTunes Ping from your phone, Apple's attempt at a music-based social network, allowing you to follow people (including bands), establish a network of friends, post comments, check out custom song and album charts and find over 17,000 concert listings.

In terms of hardware enhancement, HDR stills photography has been added with the use of multiple shots, while HD video has been enhanced, specifically uploading, which you can do via MobileMe and YouTube directly from your iPhone 4.

Just plug in, follow the instructions and you'll have it in no time.
