Almost two years since the T-Mobile G1 ushered in a new era for smartphones, a successor has been unveiled - the T-Mobile G2, wiht registration for more information open now, if you happen to be in the US.Like the original, it's a HTC-made handset sharing Google and T-Mobile branding and packing a 'hard' hinge-based keyboard. So what exactly is new? Well, on the face of it, not a lot, but a closer inspection tells a very different story. The G2 is an Android 2.2 device, complete with 3.7-inch touchscreen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7230 800 MHz processor and just for US users, the ability to get high-speed browsing via T-Mobile's 4G service. There's also a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and auto-focus, HD video shooting (720p) 4GB of storage (which you can bump up with a microSD card) and of course, all those lovely Google-friendly apps, including Google Voice, which means you speak, the phone does as it's told.As we mentioned earlier, registration is open in the US, with pre-orders commencing later this month. The UK? Well, you would fancy it will land in some capacity, but whether it will come as the G2 or under another name isn't clear. We'll let you know as soon as it's confirmed.
