Virgin Media launches £12 BlackBerry deal

No longer confined to business men and women, the BlackBerry is mass market, with that market certain to grow a little but more with the advent of Virgin media's £12 BlackBerry deal.

That's right, just £12 to run a BlackBerry for a month. Not only that, Virgin is also including the BlackBerry Curve 8520 for free as part of the deal. Granted, it's around a year old now, but it did get a four-star review off us and until the next version of the BlackBerry operating system actually lands in the Uk, it's still a relevant device. Whether it will be when your 24-month contract ends is another thing.

If you've not encountered the 8520 before, it has a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2 megapixel camera, expandable memory of up to 32GB and access to BlackBerry App World, where you can get your hands on a variety of tools and social networking essentials, the latter including Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

The £12 fee includes 50 inclusive minutes and 250 texts per month, as well as unlimited BlackBerry Messenger and unlimited web and email access with up to ten email accounts including the option to hook up to the likes of Gmail, Yahoo! or Hotmail.

Jonathan Kini, director of mobile at Virgin Media said: 'BlackBerry is no longer just for business users, and our exceptionally competitive deals can only help BlackBerry smartphones become an even bigger break-through device for consumers. Popular with families, students and teens loving its class-leading email, social networking and instant messaging features, our new unbeatable deal slashes the cost of this fantastic phone for anyone looking to stay connected.'
