ViewSonic ViewPad 7 tablet gets official launch

We heard it was coming a couple of weeks back, now the ViewSonic Viewpad 7 tablet has gone official.

The ViewPad 7 is described as the world’s first 7-inch Android 2.2 (Froyo) tablet. But it's not a tablet in the iPad sense, more a tablet in the Dell Streak sense, with the pocket-sized design still offering up room and capacity for phone functionality. So something of an all-rounder.

In terms of specifics, the ViewPad 7 has 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, a full size sim card slot, capacitive multi-touch screen, integrated Bluetooth, a microSD slot for up to 32GB of storage, A-GPS, an office document and e-book reader and a pair of cameras - VGA and 3-megapixel respectively.

'We are proud to announce another world first at Viewsonic. 3G phone functionality combined with dual cameras gives the ability for use of Android apps to use augmented reality or video calling on the move with the benefit of an excellent 7" screen,' says Derek Wright, European Product Marketing Manager. 'The ViewPad 7 is aimed at users who require the 'always on' connectivity they are used to from a mobile phone with a more agreeable screen size for longer term use.'

No news of a price or network availability as yet, more when we have it.
