Apple's iPad is finally set to have some real competition when Samsung's Android-powered Galaxy Tab launches next week.
Previously known as the Galaxy Tape, the seven-inch tablet has been doing the tech gossip rounds, and now an official teaser video has confirmed a launch date of September 2, at the IFA conference in Berlin.
The 30-second promo gives just a vague idea of what it's going to look like - but highlighted features include its Android 2.2 OS, 'HD movies' (on a Super AMOLED screen like the Galaxy S and Wave?); augmented reality (via the Layar Android app?); video calling (in your face, iPad); and Swype, the Android app that allows you to write messages simply by dragging your finger from letter to letter.
We also spied a glimpse of the double-column Gmail interface Google developed for tablets, and which is seen in the iPad.
A previous leak also implied that the Galaxy Tab will launch in a few different sizes, including eight-inches and ten-inches.
