ViewSonic to launch Android/Windows tablet

Plenty of tablets launching before the end of the year off the back of the iPad's success, but ViewSonic thinks there is room for more, especially one with a unique selling point.

ViewSonic will use the IFA trade show to show off two tablets, one a 7-inch Android tablet called the ViewPad 7 and a so far unnamed 10-inch tablet. According to TechRadar, the 7-inch device will use Android for its operating system (the version not yet announced), with 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, a microSD slot, Bluetooth, G-Sensor and USB connectivity. Pretty much par for the course.

But that's not really the headline act. According to a statement from the company: 'ViewSonic will also be previewing a new Intel-based 10-inch tablet with dual boot Microsoft and Android operating systems.'

No more details, just that teaser. There's no denying it's a tempting idea - the option of both Microsoft 7 (presumably) or Android in the same device. If the price is right, the company just might grab some headlines and even more sales. More about this when the trade show gets underway.
