BlackBerry Torch confirmed for Orange

It's been the talk of the tech world for the last two days, but until now, only Vodafone had confirmed it would be selling the BlackBerry Torch. Well, it's now been joined by another network - Orange.

There hasn't yet been an official press bulletin doing the rounds, but typical of many breaking stories these days, Twitter was there first, specifically Orange PR man Connor Maples, who said: 'Good news: The new BlackBerry Torch 9800 with BlackBerry 6 will be coming soon to Orange UK. We will keep you posted with details...'

Sadly, no 'details' have yet been 'posted', crucially the price and arrival date of what's widely seen as something of a make or break handset from RIM. September/October looks likely for the UK, just in time for the pre-Christmas push.

If you missed it earlier this week, the BlackBerry Torch is the first BlackBerry with both a touchscreen and slide-out keyboard, not to mention the first one with the all-new BlackBerry OS 6 operating system. Alongside that 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, it also has a new, fast WebKit browser, 4GB of expandable storage, 512MB RAM, a 624Mhz processor, Wi-Fi, HSDPA and A-GPS connectivity and a five-megapixel camera with flash, auto-focus, and face recognition.

As soon as we get those dates and prices, you'll be the first to know.
