Seems to be the season for Android updates, with the HTC Desire rolling out a 2.2 update from this weekend, while the HTC Hero users gets a long-overdue upgrade to 2.1. Samsung hasn't forgotten its users either, offering up the Froyo 2.2 upgrade from September for the Galaxy S.It was confirmed by the company on Twitter in the UK, the mini message claiming that 'it's currently in development', but will be 'released for all networks at the end of September'.That's good news in principle, but the reality of just when it will land could be very different. For example, that HTC Desire upgrade we mentioned earlier, that's heading to unlocked phones this weekend. But the networks are taking much longer to pass it on. Indeed, that particular update is unlikely to make it to contract users until at least September due to testing on the networks. So if the same principle is applied here, you'll be looking at November before you see Android 2.2 on the Galaxy S - not long before Android 3.0 officially launches.
