Microsoft unveils Windows Phone live

Microsoft has taken the wraps off its companion cloud-based storage system for Windows Phone 7, going by the name of Windows Phone live.

According to Pocket Lint, it's not dissimilar in theory to Apple's MobileMe but for one significant difference - Microsoft is offering its own system absolutely free, just as long as you invest in the handset obviously.

In essence, it's a 'cloud' location for all your files and contacts, with the option to exchange files between your phone and PC too. 25GB is a fairly hefty amount of storage on offer too, especially without money changing hands. You'll even have access to the Find my Phone service too, allowing you to locate your handset or to lock and wipe if it has fallen into the wrong hands.

It's part of a bigger package that should be landing very soon - LG, Samsung and HTC have already talked up launches, the HTC handset likely to be one of the first to land in late 2010. More details on all launches when details confirmed.
