APP WATCH: Spotify for iOS 4 goes live

We flagged this up as incoming a few days back, so it's no surprise to see the all-new Spotify app for iPhone live on Apple's app store.

According to recombu, the update went live last night, offered free, but of course, you'll need to pay the monthly fee for Spotify Premium to get use out of it.

Multitasking is the headline act here, so if you have iOS4 or a new iPhone 4, that means you can listen to your tunes or playlists in the background as you read your emails or whatever else you want to do. The app has been tweaked to use less battery power too, which is always a welcome bonus.

Other new features include a 'What's New' tab, which shows new albums on the service, a top tracks in your country link, and also your social feed - the playlists that your Facebook friends have been posting using Spotify, should they and you have your account linked up to the social network. You can also share tracks and albums with those friends from the app, which should be a lot of fun on the go.

If all that gets you excited and you have the hardware or software to run it, get over to the app store now.
