It was too good to be true, wasn't it? Hot on the heels of the announcement that HTC Hero owners would finally get the Android 2.1 upgrade, comes the news that actually, Heros locked to an network will have to wait 'a little bit' longer.
According to Pocket-Lint, operator 3 says their 2.1 update will arrive over the air in mid-to-late July and T-Mobile says 'a few days'. Unlucky Orange Hero owners however, will have to be content with the non-specific 'in the very near future.
Meanwhile, HTC has announced that Android 2.2 - or Froyo - will be available for its Desire, Legend and Wildfire handsets in Q3. But no doubt locked handsets will have to wait that much longer.
