Dell offers Streak Android tablet sim-free

No longer tied to the O2 network, the Dell Streak is now available to use on the network of your choice, as the company is offering it sim-free.

Recently reviewed (and highly rated) by us, the Dell Streak is a 5-inch tablet/phone hybrid running Android 1.6. But don't despair, an upgrade to 2.2 is coming later this year.

Connectivity is 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with a 1Ghz Qualcomm processor, 5-megapixel camera and A-GPS also on-board, the latter for use with Google Maps. Of course, you'll also get access to the Android marketplace for apps aplenty and when that 2.2 upgrade does come through, access to Flash on the go.

O2 had an exclusive for a while, the device being offered on contract-only. But now you can grab it straight from Dell without the long-term deal for £449. That price including a 16GB microSD storage card and free shipping. Or if you like O2, that network is also offering the Streak on a pay-as-you-go deal for £399.
