Google rolls out Android 2.2 to Nexus One

Around 6 months after it launched, Google's very own Google phone, the Nexus One, will stay ahead of the pack with an upgrade to Android 2.2.

It should be rolling out in the next 24 hours, so if you haven't got it yet, your upgrade is imminent, offering up something approaching a new phone for free. Why so good? Well, there's a host of tasty new features, including more speed, compatibility with Flash 10.1 and the option to turn your smartphone into a portable hotspot. Tasty stuff. as we reported yesterday, you'll also have the option of accessing an Android-friendly version of BBC iPlayer too, something to impress your iPhone-loving friends with for sure.

According to Google's official bulletin, you will receive a message on your phone's notification bar of the availability of an update. Just download the update, wait for it to install, and you should be all set.

The very latest you'll get it is the end of the week, so if it's not with you when you go to bed tonight, don't lose sleep over it.
