APP WATCH: Amazon brings Kindle to Android phones

It's already available for the  iPhone, iPad, and BlackBerry, with multimedia added for the Apple devices yesterday. But now Android devices can access Amazon Kindle via a newly-released app.

It's a free download for OS 1.6 or higher, offering up access to around 620,000 books for reading on your Android smartphone. The app is designed for the 'best reading experience available on your Android phone' and does work with a Kindle should you have one. So, for example, if you've got books on that device or you want to carry on from where you left off with the standalone device, you can do just that.

The app also adjusts the text size, adds bookmarks, and offers up annotations you created on your Kindle, computer, or other Kindle-compatible device, shows pages in portrait or landscape mode and turns a page with a tap of the screen.

If the bookworm in you is excited by all that, just search for 'Kindle' in the Android Market on your phone to grab the app.
