Sony Ericsson adds X8 to Xperia line-up

Sony Ericsson has added a new handset to its ever-increasing Xperia line-up, the Xperia X8.

Yes, it's an Android phone as you might have guessed (1.6 iniitally), with an interface 'similar to that of the Xperia X10 mini' via the 3-inch capacitive touchscreen and offering up Sony Ericsson's Timescape functionality for accessing updates from key social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

Other features include a 3.2-megapixel camera with geotagging and Facebook uploading, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, GPS, a microSD slot (2GB card included) and a choice of five colour options. No price details, expect those when the phone lands in late 2010.

If that makes your current Xperia feel old, worry not. According to Sony Ericsson, the Xperia X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro smartphones will be upgraded to run on the Android 2.1 very soon, throwing in HD video recording as part of the upgrade, followed by the option to connect wirelessly to and display content on your television on the X10, not to mention enhanced Timescape and Mediascape applications. So good news all round Xperia owners.
