It's not quite reached the same level of hype as the iPad, but the Dell Streak is hotly-anticipated and could be in your hand this very day if you head down to your local O2 store or Carphone Warehouse.Yes, today is launch day for the Android mini tablet. We got our hands on one a while back and were very impressed with what we saw, not least because this isn't 'just' a tablet, it's also a replacement for your mobile phone.Packed with features too, including a 5-inch capacitive multi-touch WVGA display, built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 512MB RAM, a 5-megapixel camera, front-facing video camera (VGA), 2GB of storage and an expansion slot. Android as we already mentioned, but only 1.6 at launch. But don't worry - the Streak will support over-the-air updates for Android 2.2 later this year.So how much will it cost you? That depends on whether you want it as a tablet, a tablet/phone or contract-free. Specifically, that means £25 a month on a data only deal, £35 for voice and data or £399 if you want to use your own network.
Interestingly, one source claims O2 has been offering in-contract upgrades to the handset. One person is reported to have been offered the Streak as a replacement for a handset they were less than happy with at O2. Whether this is a one-off or policy isn't clear - you'll have to call the network yourself to find out if you fit the criteria for getting the upgrade.
