Music identification service Shazam has reached a rather impressive landmark, identifying its one billionth song. The track in question was Gettin' Over by David Guetta featuring Chris Willis and marks ten years of consumers using their mobile to get the name and artist of certain songs. Shazam has also unveiled that their loyal list of users has grown from 50 million to 75 million in the last six months.
Available in over 200 countries across six continents, Shazam enables users to hold up their phone when a track is playing on a radio or stereo system. As well as identifying the song's title and name of the artist or band, Shazam will also preview a 30 second clip before offering you the chance to buy it, find local and international tour dates and even buy tickets to the shows. There's also a real social element to the service, with customers recommending tracks via Twitter, Facebook and email to other Shazam users.
Shazam is available for free on the iPhone, Android, Symbian, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Java platforms.
