We first caught a glimpse of it back in March, but now UK launch details of the Samsung Galaxy S have been confirmed, with the most relevant being that the 16GB version is a Vodafone exclusive. So if you want to own one of these Android 2.1 smartphones, you need to head over to the Vodafone site, where the company has produced a rather nice image gallery of the phone, a full breakdown of the features and most importantly, somewhere for you to add your interest in owning one.Why should you be interested? Well, because the Galaxy S is another rather tasty Android. We mentioned the 2.1 OS, but you can also add to the list 16GB of storage, a 4-inch super AMOLED display for ultra-clear image browsing, a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 5-megapixel camera (with the option to shoot HD video), GPS, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, not to mention all those Google goodies, access to the Android app store and some nifty social networking options. The phone also comes in an 8GB variant that we assume is up for grabs on other networks. The two things missing from Vodafone's pre-sale are perhaps the most important - price and availability. You can be pretty sure price will be in line with other higher-end Android handsets, but the date? If pre-orders are being taken, you're probably talking weeks rather than months.
