We got our hands on the BlackBerry Pearl 3G and were suitably impressed, so we're pleased to hear the compact smartphone is heading to the UK later this summer, via the Vodafone network.Originally, the launch was being talked up for late May or June. However, the delay might not be a bad thing as it should allow RIM to pack in the latest operating system, OS 6.0. If it does come in ahead of that software upgrade, you should be able to upgrade from 5.0 to 6.0 easily enough when it does land.As we mentioned previously, the handset is a more youth-friendly version of the businessmen's best buddy, smaller and lighter (RIM’s smallest ever BlackBerry), it offers much the same as the BlackBerry Bold 9700, which means Wi-Fi and HSDPA connectivity, plus a bright TFT screen, but uses a more typical 14-key keypad rather than the full QWERTY number to fit on that sleek frame. There is a slightly larger 20-key version, but UK punters are getting the smaller one only.Pricing still hasn't been mentioned, but is likely to depend on the contract you sign.
