It seems that Nokia is about to announce the launch of a new service devoted to on-demand Movie downloads and streaming TV, something that has been rumoured for many months. According to the Ubergizmo website, the new service will be limited to certain countries in Europe – no more details have been issued on that point.
Utilising a form of iPlayer-like interface that will support Ads and a streaming WebTV service, the company also hinted at the on-demand features within a leaked Nokia N8 specification sheet. On that sheet, free on-demand TV series and movies from global and local broadcasters would be included with a mobile-optimsed interface: probably a one-click affair with more TV channels to follow via the Ovi Store. An open source widget for web TV is also discussed while Flash Lite 4.0 is talked about to support Internet-based video services. We’ll pass on more details when we get them.
