We knew it was coming and now it’s official. LG has unveiled aanother affordable Android phone, the LG Optimus GT540 which as well as having a pretty cool name is a social networking guru and comes with the very latest version of Android, 2.0. Arriving in black and silver, the Optimus is pocket friendly with subtle round edges and a thin physique while the three-inch resistive touch-screen sparkles into life and can be viewed in landscape or portrait depending on which way you hold the phone.
With the Social Networking Services Manager, live updates from Facebook, Twitter and Bebo will be integrated providing live updates and access to the sites in full. With an automatically synchronised Google account, once you’ve signed in once, the device will remember your details allowing you to access YouTube, Gmail, Gtalk and Google Maps. Other highlights include HSDPA, Wi-Fi, a 3.5mm headset jack and video support for MP4, DivX and WMV files. Not bad for a handset billed as being a first smartphone.
The LG Optimus will be available in the UK from 1 May.
