While Apple’s operating system has already been officially announced and is reportedly due for release in June and a new version of the Android operating system is, apparently, currently in the works, RIM is determined not to be left out. Details of version 6.0 of the Blackberry OS – more specifically, screenshots and new details – have been leaked and, gazing over the information, this new OS appears to introduce a variety of new details.
These include system-wide kinetic scrolling with rubber-banding, modal pop-ups with gesture support (for those handsets with touchscreens), a new web browser featuring tab switching, a customisable homescreen, a new favourites facility and, most importantly, multitouch plus a new music player.
The release of the new OS has yet to be officially released but there are reports that it will emerge somewhere around June and July, according to the Phone Arena website.
