Gigabyte confirms Boston smartphone name

Remember that uniquely named, piscine flavoured, handset the Gigabyte GSmart F1305 Codfish and our report that it may be rebranded as the Boston? That name change has now been confirmed. Other confirmations have included that the phone will be released into the UK market (as well as other, European areas) this month, via Orange, and that colours will include a white chassis.


The phone will be based on a 600Mhz CPU from Qualcomm and version 1.6 of Android and will include a 3.2in touchscreen packing in 480 x 320 pixels, according to the Eurodroid website. A trackball will also be featured as part of the interface. Other features will include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, a 3.5mm headphone socket for music fans plus a microSD card slot to boost the internal memory of 256MB. A camera rated at 5-megapixels will also be included.


Expect a low cost contract offer.
