It’s been a long time since we heard Sony Ericsson mention its successful ‘Walkman’ brand, but it would appear its back, with the unveiling of two new music-based handsets. The Sony Ericsson Zylo and Sony Ericsson Spiro are also big on social networking, with one touch of a button away from all your Twitter and Facebook needs. However, it’s a rather unique feature, that’s sadly only on the Zylo that has got us purring. While chatting away to your friends on the Zylo, you will be able to play any music you have saved on the phone, in the background allowing you to share and discuss the latest track you have downloaded. A tad more gimmicky, but still as innovative, the phone comes preloaded with background sounds that give the impression you’re still at work, walking in the street or having a meal in a restaurant. Photos can be shared on both Flickr and Picasa, while videos can be uploaded to YouTube in just two clicks.
The Sony Ericsson Spiro is a little sparse on features, but still retains quick access to both Facebook and Twitter, while the Spiro does sport a 3.5mm headset jack, something missing from the Zylo. We’ve been big fans of Sony Ericsson’s Walkman range over the years so we expect a decent music offering from the two handsets.
Both the Sony Ericsson Zylo and Sony Ericsson Spiro will be available from Q3 of this year.
